Our Pastor

Reverend Andre R. Thornhill serves as the Senior Pastor of Live Oak AME Church, bringing a life of faith, leadership, and service shaped by deep roots in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. He is an Itinerant Elder in the AME Church and has faithfully served congregations across the South Carolina Annual Conference.

Pastoral Leadership and Service

Throughout his ministry, Reverend Thornhill has served as pastor of Mt. Carmel AME Church in Charleston, Ebenezer AME Church in Lincolnville, and St. Paul AME Church in Hollywood, South Carolina. He currently serves as the proud pastor of Live Oak AME Church, where his leadership emphasizes spiritual growth, community engagement, and faithful stewardship. He is also a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., with more than 25 years of membership.

Education and Formation

Reverend Thornhill is a graduate of Summerville High School and Clemson University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematical Sciences with a minor in Electrical Engineering. He later completed a Master of Arts in Computer Information and Resource Management from Webster University and a Master of Divinity from Columbia International University School of Seminary and Mission. His academic background reflects a balance of analytical rigor, theological depth, and practical leadership.

Community Impact and Outreach

Reverend Thornhill is the Founder and Executive Director of Stone of Help Community Outreach, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to improving quality of life through health and wellness, education, housing, and economic development. The organization partners with institutions such as Microsoft Nonprofit Division, MobileBeacon, TechSoup, the Lowcountry Food Bank, and the University of South Carolina’s Faith Activity and Nutrition program. Its initiatives include food distribution, community gardens, technology access, and wellness programming that uplift and strengthen underserved communities.

A humble servant of God, Reverend Thornhill is committed to serving God and His people with integrity and faithfulness. His ministry reflects a life devoted to glorifying God, guided by the scripture:

Pastor's Family

Reverend Thornhill is married to LaTanya Marie Drummond Thornhill of Greer, South Carolina. They have been married for over 16 years and are the proud parents of two children, Andre Rashad Thornhill II and Abigail Marie Thornhill. Family remains central to his life and ministry, grounding his leadership in love, faith, and commitment.
